What's On Events West Horsley Place Picnic Society: Fête Champêtre Picnics were a regular fixture in the 18th and 19th century British social calendar as the upper classes became inspired to escape the formality of the dining room. In 1801 a group of frightfully fashionable Francophiles formed the Pic Nic Society and would meet for alfresco high jinks, where each member was required to bring along a dish and six bottles of wine per person. Join us as we celebrate the launch of the West Horsley Place Picnic Society with an elegant evening Fête Champêtre. Bring your own blanket or chairs and find a secluded spot in the formal garden, Crinkle Crankle garden or ancient orchard. There are only 50 spaces available for this exclusive fundraising event.
