Half-Term

Fun for all the family with storyteller extraordinaire Olivia Armstrong. A magical tour of the secret corridors and enchanted corners of the manor house. 

Discover the strange, spooky secret beneath the staircase. Hear how a brave servant laid to rest a troublesome ghost. Find out ways to protect yourself and your house from ghosts. Seasonal stories to celebrate all things marvellous and magical.

Youth Activities

For teenagers aged 13-18 years. Join for a morning, afternoon or bring a packed lunch and stay for the whole day. Opportunities will range from exploring the Library to forest construction.

Nature

Have more half-term fun with us out on the estate with Surrey Wildlife Trust for a Hedgerow Adventure Bioblitz!

Join us for a family fun afternoon and discover all the wonderful wildlife that calls the hedgerow home. The team from Surrey Wildlife Trust will help us find and identify creatures and signs of life in the hedgerows at West Horsley Place.

You can also join us for guided nature and conservation walks led by our Estate Manager and Environment & Sustainability Manager and explore our estate in this beautiful season. 

We are also running a FREE wellbeing in nature course from Friday 7th October. Run in partnership with Catalyst and delivered by a trained mental health professional from their team, this course is for anyone who wants to invest in their mental health.

Performing Arts

We are delighted to host the Maiastra String Quartet for a concert of chamber music in the Stone Hall on 4th November. The concert will be free.

Nooks & Crannies Tours

Our renowned Nooks & Crannies tours will continue until 30th November. Don't miss your chance to really explore the Manor House and its centuries of stories- and delve into the fascinating lives of the many illustrious owners and visitors, as well as finding out more about the architectural history of the house.

Filming Tours

Have you ever been curious about what it is like when a heritage site becomes a filming location? Or perhaps you want to dive further into the world of BBC Ghosts or Enola Holmes? Our Filming Tour is for you! We explore how West Horsley Place is used as a location, behind the scenes stories and why filming is so vital to raising income to repair and conserve our Grade I listed manor house.

Our final two Open Days for 2022 are 23rd October and 20th November.  Open Days are our way of making our heritage and stories as accessible as possible: held at the weekend, with affordable ticket prices including free entry for under 16s (with an adult). You can now attend a free Storytelling Session on the day too!

The festive feeling may not be upon you yet, but it is worth booking early for our fabulous Christmas craft courses as spaces are limited. A highlight this year is Wreath making led by Celeste from Celeste Rose Designs.

Surrey Hills Christmas Fair

We close our year with the return of our Surrey Hills Christmas Craft Fair, celebrating the best of Surrey's fine arts, crafts and artisanal produce. This year we are delighted to welcome a new exhibiting partner in the manor house: Surrey Sculpture Society. Also new for 2022: select your Christmas wreath from an array of hand-made wreaths hanging in the walled gardens- all made using foliage from our estate.
