Our Open Days are our way of making our heritage and stories as accessible as possible: held at the weekend and in school holidays, with affordable ticket prices including free entry for under 16s (when accompanied by a responsible adult aged 16+).
Come and explore the Manor House and walled gardens. The most prestigious rooms in the house will be open for you to wander through on a free-flow route. There will be expert stewards in each room sharing the remarkable stories of West Horsley Place including Guy Fawkes' time as a footman here, how Walter Raleigh's head ended up under our stairs, why Elizabeth I had a theatre built in our gardens, how two of our owners ended up being executed, and much more.
Refreshments will be available on the day at our pop-up cafe at Place Farm Barn. We're very happy for you to bring a picnic into the walled gardens or Place Farm courtyard, but please take any rubbish away with you.
“It’s the loveliest, most beautiful and soothing place. ”
Places are limited and must be booked online in advance: no physical tickets will be issued.
Please check in at the arrival desk in the manor house entrance hall, during your entrance timeslot (10am-12noon or 1pm-3pm). Last entry for the afternoon session will be at 3pm. If you arrive more than 10 minutes after your entrance timeslot, on a busy day we may not be able to fit you in.
Young children and families are welcome.
Only assistance dogs are permitted inside the manor house and walled gardens. However, we have a 380- acre estate in which you are most welcome to take your well-behaved pooch for a walk.
This event is wheelchair accessible, but as this is a historic building please be aware that surfaces are uneven. Access to the ground floor of the manor house is step free and we have a lift to the first floor. Access through the gardens is step free and to the toilets is step free.
West Horsley Place has a gravel carriage sweep and car park is a 3 minute walk from the manor house and gardens. Wheelchair users and guests with restricted mobility can be dropped off infront of the manor house for close access to the house and walled gardens.
Limited disabled parking is available at the barn and the manor house.
Free tickets for essential accompanying carers are available; these can only be booked in combination with a ticket holder with access requirements.
