Awards for West Horsley Place

We were delighted to be part of the West Horsley in Bloom gardening competition and thrilled to receive so many awards at last week's Winners Presentation Evening at West Horsley Village Hall.  We were awarded a Gold for Biodiversity Champion, a Gold for Non Residential Display, Best Non-Residential Display and the overall winner's trophy - The Roxburghe Cup.

The judges' panel praised our planting scheme at Place Farm Barn courtyard and the surrounding wildflower meadows and borders, with habitats to encourage a rich biodiversity, blending in with the walled gardens and orchard and its fresh approach to presenting a formal garden.

Congratulations to Matt, Charlie and all the gardening volunteers who have worked so hard and so creatively on our estate and gardens.

I must specifically thank Charlie Pope for his hard graft this year through storms and heatwaves (the log wall is stunning) and the dedicated band of garden volunteers that have had such an impact and added to the pleasure and privilege of spending time at West Horsley Place."

The Roxburghe Cup was originally given by the Duchess many years ago, and so is ‘coming home’ for 2022. Well done to all the participants in such a wonderfully varied competition.
