Following a successful first season of summer events, today West Horsley Place announces its programme for autumn.

Inspired by the hugely popular BBC One sitcom, Ghosts – which is filmed at West Horsley Place - during half-term week visitors will have a unique opportunity to meet The Occupants, former residents of the Grade I listed manor house reimagined by leading heritage performance company, Torchlight Heritage.

Families can take part in Trick or Treat, a special trail around the house and 18th century walled gardens where visitors will encounter historical characters – who love to play Trick or Treat!  On the trail, families will discover the stories of West Horsley Place – and some secrets, too!

For over 16s, there’s Tales after Dark, where The Occupants take visitors on a spooky immersive tour around the manor house after dark, recounting tales of ghosts, myths and legends along the way.

In November (26-28), West Horsley Play will curate and host the inaugural Surrey Hills Christmas Fair. Working in partnership with Surrey Hills Enterprises, Guildford Art Society, The Art Shed Surrey, Wey Ceramics, Adam Aaronson & Friends and Surrey Guild of Craftsmen, visitors will be able to see and buy the best of Surrey arts, crafts, artisanal produce, food and drink.

Nooks and Crannies tours and further Open Days continue during autumn, giving visitors an opportunity to learn and about this history and heritage of West Horsley Place and to discover stories from its 600 year past.

Clare Clinton, Arts, Heritage & Learning Manager, says:

“It has been wonderful welcoming visitors to West Horsley Place this summer, and we are thrilled with the feedback we have received. We are delighted to be continuing our tours and open days this autumn, and are really looking forward to our special events.  We want to make sure that West Horsley Place is a welcoming space for the community to share and enjoy, with arts, heritage, history and nature at its heart. Importantly, funds raised through our public programme make a vital contribution towards the on-going project to conserve and repair Grade I listed West Horsley Place and its surrounding estate, safeguarding this important part of our heritage for future generations.  We are very grateful to everyone who has supported our charity to date, and we look forward to welcoming you here over the coming months.”

Pre-booking for tours, open days and special events is essential.
