Notes from the Silence: Italian Women Composers of the 17th Century

Guided Walk & Lunchtime talk with music for soprano, theorbo and viola da gamba

We are delighted to host this special Talk with Music and Walk with Surrey Hills International Music Festival and Guildford Book Festival.

Writer and historian Anna Beer takes us on a journey through the splendour of 17th-century Italy for this fascinating look at the women who dared to write music in a man’s world.  Barbara Strozzi and Francesca Caccini are the featured composers struggling against societal norms and finally gaining the acknowledgement they deserve.

You can also book to join in a guided walk across our beautiful estate before or after the talk.

Miriam Nohl, viola da gamba
