This one-day workshop is a creative introduction into the screenprinting process and is suitable for beginners or those wishing to refresh their technique.

Using pre-exposed imagery and apertures on the silkscreen you will be taught how to manage a squeegee, pull prints, layer imagery to create different compositions and how to clean the silkscreen after printing.

The workshop will also include advice on how you can screenprint at home.

Learning will be supported by a tutor and a technician.

Jule Mallett

Jule is a dyer, printmaker and textile artist based in Guildford, Surrey, whose work combines print, thread, rust and handstitch. Her own creative practice is balanced by her role in a print studio as studio manager, tutor, technician, disability and community arts coordinator. Jule screenprints on both paper and cloth. Her inspiration is drawn from the everyday. Imagery is often sourced from local weeds, the interior of envelopes, cardboard and net packaging. More recently she has become preoccupied with different mark making techniques and how hand drawn marks, exposed on a silkscreen, interact when overprinted on to cloth. Resulting cloth is pieced and patched by hand with old, used, worn, dyed cloth to create primitive forms.
