What's On Courses & Workshops Wood & Linocut Printing Create your own wood or linocut block to print onto paper and cards. Discover techniques to add further colour to your prints. Your design can be your own original idea, a found image of your choosing, or based on images and prints from the selection provided. There is plenty of inspiration at West Horsley Place - from the eyecatching facade, to the characterful rooms and objects within the house, and stunning gardens. Based in the manor house, there will be opportunity to explore and take photos. You will learn how to design an image, transfer it onto a wood or lino block, and use tools to carve your design. You will then ink and print your block by hand onto a selection of papers. Afterwards you can take your block away with you to print more at home. It will be possible to buy extra materials. Will Dyke Will studied illustration and printmaking at Harrow College, University of Westminster. After an early career in bookselling, he became a full-time printmaker and tutor. Will specialises in woodcut and linocuts, creating limited edition prints. Much of his work is inspired by rural life and history. His background in illustration continues to guide his design method. A Sussex based artist; Will teaches regular print workshops in Chichester and gives talks and demonstrations for art groups, museums, and other organisations. He is a regular tutor for the Weald & Downland Living Museum, focusing on Historical printing. He has also taught for the National Trust and Pallant House Gallery. Will and his wife, fellow printmaker Nicki, organised the annual Printmakers’ Exhibition at the Oxmarket Gallery in Chichester. They open their workshop in August for an annual open studio exhibition showing new work, alongside artwork by their students. You can see their prints on display in the Barn Emporium, near Petersfield. The Artisans Gallery, and the Oxmarket Gallery, in Chichester.
