We are very excited to announce that Alison Weir will complete our line up of historians for History Day at West Horsley Place on 16 March.

We are honoured to be joined by four renowned female historians who will talk about their work and latest books. As well as Alison, acclaimed authors Daisy Dunn, Jessie Childs and Helen Castor will be here to discuss their work. The day will include an opportunity to meet the authors and have your books signed as well as a chance to ask them questions.

Author talks will take place in the barn, with an opportunity to tour our medieval manor house and gardens at lunch time included in your ticket.

Daisy Dunn, author of A New History of the World Through the Women Who Shaped It, said:

"I was excited to curate a series of history talks at West Horsley Place, an estate I fell in love with from the moment I first visited, some years ago. The idea that we might help keep this wonderful house alive by filling it with history-lovers is just wonderful. It felt only right that we should host four female historians in a property nurtured by women for so much of its history." Daisy Dunn

Arts Heritage & Learning Manager Clare Clinton said,

" West Horsley Place is full of 1000 years of stories. Many of these stories are those of remarkable women from Dame Juliana de Berners to Elizabeth Raleigh and Margaret Crewe-Milnes. In the spirit of those women we are championing the work of female historians and historians uncovering untold women's stories. "

"Historian Daisy Dunn has been a supporter of our charity for several years now and has curated this fantastic line up of brilliant historians for our first History Day. Their work spans the centuies from ancient history through medieval, Tudor and up to the Civil War. It is going to be a fascinating day. The confirmation that Alison Weir is the final author to be announced is the cherry on the cake, especially given Henry VIII's ownership of West Horsley Place."
